Musician - Composer
Louis Henry is a musician, guitarist, composer and performer.
Although he has always been interested in various musical styles , the universe of his personal compositions draws its inspiration mainly from styles such as Flamenco, Gypsy Jazz, Jazz and world music.
Since his childhood, he has been passionate about various artistic disciplines (plastic arts, writing,etc.). It was at the age of 14 that he discovered the guitar and began playing as an autodidact.
Very quickly, he became interested in classical guitar and other musical styles, until the day he became completely passionate about Flamenco music and therefore took his first lessons in Belgium with Olivier Cima and Antonio Segura.
In 2006, he went to Granada for 9 months to deepen his flamenco guitar technique with the maestro "Salvador Romàn", as well as with other maestros like "Yerbita".
Upon his return, he studied Jazz for four years (2007-2011) at the Jazz Studio school in Antwerp and Jazz Brussels with the well knowed Victor da Costa and Paolo Loveri.
In 2010, he decided to devote himself entirely to composition to feed the repertoire of his band “Trovadotres”.
It was in 2013 that his first five track E.P "Sombra y luz" was recorded by Emmanuel Haesig.
In 2014, he was named winner of the "Thirionet Funds" of the province of Namur, which allowed him to expand his training of flamenco guitar in Sevilla for one month with maestro Miguel Angel Aragon Briales and Paco Cortes.
2015 will be the culmination of several years of composition and arrangement work, thanks to the release of his first album "Mundo perdido" recorded and produced by Homerecords record company..
The album is entirely made of personal compositions and welcomes 7 musicians performing as well as two guests : Stéphane Mercier on alto saxophone and David Navaro Turres, conductor of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, for the arrangement of the title "Mundo perdido" recorded with a string quartet.
2016 he recorded a first EP named "The Good, the Belgian and the Ugly" with the band Les Frères Barezzi, for which he composed and arranged some of the musical pieces with composer and fellow friend guitarist Robin Rees.
It was also in 2016 that the need to unite music with visual art took root in him, therefore, it is in collaboration with the Barezzi brothers that the project took shape through several years of audio-visual creations, video clips , travel diaries etc.
The Barezzi brothers recently recorded their first album (October 2023), made entirely of personal compositions by the three founders of the project, Robin Rees, Louis Henry and Thanas Kas.
Recorded and produced by the Homerecords label, it will be released in fall 2024.
